The first 2019 OnePlus flagship looks pretty exciting.
OnePlus has grown up a lot in just a few short years. Where the OnePlus One was very much so an enthusiast device that only diehard Android fans cared about, last year's OnePlus 6T was a mainstream hit with a big U.S. presence thanks to a partnership with T-Mobile.
Both the OnePlus 6 and 6T proved to be two of our favorite phones of 2018, so as you'd expect, there's a lot riding on the OnePlus 7.
What are we expecting from OnePlus's latest and greatest? Here's everything you need to know!
We're expecting two models
Typically with OnePlus releases, we get one new phone in the first part of the year and then a slightly upgraded T version towards the end of it. For the OnePlus 7, OnePlus is shaking things up a bit with rumored plans to release two versions of the phone at the same time.
These two versions are expected to be the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro, and pictured above is the Pro model. As you can see from the render, it'll have three rear cameras, a nearly bezel-less display with curved edges, and a pop-up selfie camera. This is definitely the most ambitious design we've seen from OnePlus to-date.
Along with the OnePlus 7 Pro, there's also the more tradtional-looking OnePlus 7.
The regular OnePlus 7 has a design that's very reminiscent of the OnePlus 6T, including two rear cameras and a waterdrop notch at the top of its screen.
It'll be interesting to see how this shakeup with its release formula affects OnePlus's sales, but with companies like Samsung, Google, and Apple all releasing multiple models of their flagship phones at the same time, it makes sense for OnePlus to follow suit.
Here are the rumored specs
If there's one thing that's consistent each year with OnePlus phones, its flagship specifications.
From things like Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 processor to impressive battery capacities, here are the latest rumored specs for the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro.

The OnePlus 7 Pro's display is going to be a big deal
If you've been following OnePlus for a while, you know the company usually doesn't innovate much with its displays. Year after year, OnePlus phones feature AMOLED panels with a Full HD resolution. This has never been a real issue and is one of the cut corners we don't mind, but for the OnePlus 7 Pro, OnePlus is trying something new.
In addition to it being OnePlus's first phone with a Quad HD+ resolution, it's also expected to feature a refresh rate of 90Hz. Just about every phone that's released has a refresh rate of 60Hz, save for the Razer Phone and Razer Phone 2 which were both cranked up to 120Hz.
A higher refresh rate means that the screen is able to refresh its image faster, resulting in smoother animations and movement across the board — most notable when scrolling and playing supported games.
Excited to share the next product from OnePlus will unleash a new era of Fast and Smooth. Especially Smooth! Smooth is more challenging than Fast - a true test of hardware and software.

This information was confirmed exlcusively to Android Central by a very reliable industry source, so we're quite confident this will be a main selling point of the OnePlus 7 Pro. Shortly after we broke this news, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau essentially confirmed it with the above tweet.
When will the phones be released?
On April 23, OnePlus announced that it'll be holding launch events around the world on May 14 to officially unveil the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro.
This is the first year OnePlus will be hosting multiple launch events simultaneously, including ones in New York, London, Bangalore, and Beijing. The events kick off in their respective countries as follows:
- Printworks, London – UK, 4PM BST, May 14
- Pier 94, New York – US, 11AM EDT, May 14
- BIEC, Bangalore – India, 8:15PM IST, May 14
- Yanqi Lake, Beijing – China, 2PM PST, May 16
The New York launch event begins at 11:00 AM EDT, and if you're interested in attending it or any of the other events, you can buy tickets on OnePlus's website. In addition to being among the first to see the OnePlus 7 series in-person, you'll also get the chance to connect with OnePlus staff/fans and get free swag that OnePlus says "you won't get anywhere else."
If you can't attend any of the events, OnePlus is livestreaming all of the news on YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook.

How much is the OnePlus 7 series going to cost?
With each new phone that it's come out with, OnePlus has steadily increased the starting price by around $20 or so.
- OnePlus 6T — $549
- OnePlus 6 — $529
- OnePlus 5T — $499
- OnePlus 5 — $479
While a price hike for this new generation of phones does seem likely, it remains unclear what OnePlus's pricing strategy will be with it launching two phones at the same time. We're obviously expecting the OnePlus 7 Pro to be the most expensive, and with the regular 7 looking so similar to the 6T, we aren't sure how this will play out.
