- OnePlus today confirmed that it will soon be launching a 'more affordable smartphone product line.'
- The new product line will be launched in Europe and India first.
- OnePlus is also planning to bring affordable smartphones to North America in the near future.
A day after OnePlus co-founders teased "new beginnings" on Twitter, the company has confirmed that it is bringing the flagship experience to a more affordable smartphone product line. The new product line will be targeted at consumers looking for a solid smartphone at an accessible price point.
OnePlus CEO Pete Lau wrote in a post on the OnePlus Community forums):
Never Settle has always been at the core of OnePlus. For more than 6 years, that has meant working hard to always deliver the best experience for flagship smartphone users. However, as we've grown together with our community, we know that there are many people who want a really solid smartphone that meets their everyday needs, and for a more accessible price.
While OnePlus hasn't revealed much about its upcoming affordable smartphone line, it says the series will first be launched in Europe and India. The company will also be bringing the new line to North America in the "near future." Whether that means the OnePlus Z/OnePlus Nord will not be sold in the U.S., is something that remains to be seen.
The OnePlus Z or OnePlus Nord is rumored to be the first phone to be launched under the new series. While OnePlus hasn't officially confirmed an exact launch date yet, we expect the phone to debut in India on July 10. It is tipped to feature a 90Hz AMOLED display, Qualcomm's 7nm Snapdragon 765G processor, quad rear cameras, and a 30W fast charging.
